How to Know if You Have Faith (3 Signals to Check!)

Let’s get into it right away!

Faith Signal #1: Absolute Rest

If you really have faith, then you’ll be at rest concerning that situation.

You see, you cannot separate faith from rest.

It doesn’t matter if your circumstances have changed or not; you will have rest when faith has permeated your heart.

It simply means there will be assurance in your heart that what you are believing God for is settled.

Irrespective of your situation, you’d envision a better future, days of good health, prosperity, and bliss, according to the promises of God.

It’s good to note that rest also indicates patience. That means if you have believed, you will not be hasty (see Isaiah 28:16).

So, as a young person, when you have faith concerning your future, you will be patient enough to trust God for your marriage partner.

Hebrews 4:3 says, “For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, as I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest, although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.”

You can indeed have rest concerning the salvation of your soul.

Your physical needs would not be enough to put you in a state of unrest too. That’s when faith is resident in your heart (see Philippians 4:19).

God desires that we come to rest (or perfect peace) concerning our lives! And that’s what faith does.

Faith rests on the integrity of the Word of God. It means casting your cares upon the Lord!

Your level of rest is your level of faith.

Rest is a critical signal (or indicator) of your faith!

Faith Signal #2: No Anxiety or Fear

Just like light and darkness would never mix, faith doesn’t co-habit with fear.

That means if you truly have faith for something, you will never give fear and anxiety the tiniest space in your heart.

If you have anxiety over that thing you’re trusting God for, then you aren’t truly believing!

And it’s as simple as that.

Your heart receives strength and courage as you read and meditate on the Word, dispelling fear and worry.

That’s why anyone who has contacted real faith speaks with authority, irrespective of what they are going through.

The Word is more real to their soul than their circumstances.

Therefore, they can speak or confess the Word with authority and obey faith instructions.

The church in the wilderness was caught in the bondage of fear because the Word preached to them did not mix with faith in their hearts! (Hebrews 4:2).

You see, the Bible says, “Be careful for nothing; but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God.” (Philippians 4:6).

If you truly have faith, then you will be so confident in God’s word that fear or anxiety can no longer take hold of you.

Faith Signal #3: Praise and Thanksgiving

Real and sincere thanksgiving is a significant indicator that faith abounds in your heart.

If you are murmuring and complaining; then you are not in faith.

One obvious fact about people of faith is that they give thanks regardless of their situation. Apostle Paul rejoiced in tribulations! (2 Corinthians 7:4).

Let’s also check out our patriarch of faith, Father Abraham.

The Bible records that he was strong in faith, giving glory to God. (Romans 4:20-21).

And that was even before Isaac was conceived! He could, with the eyes of faith, see the reality of the promise, and he gave glory to God!

Our Lord Jesus Christ needed faith to feed 5,000 people. Then, He gave thanks in faith and broke the loaves, and there was a miracle!

Jesus gave thanks to God and confessed God’s consistent readiness to answer his prayers.

“And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.” (John 6:11)

The Lord wants us to be a people of thanksgiving!

We should always be thankful. Both in good and bad times, let thanksgiving arise from your heart to the Lord.

Anytime you complain, demons are around, and they will quench your faith!

1 Thessalonians 5:18 says “In everything, give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

God does not inhabit the complaints of his people; he inhabits their praises (Psalm 22:3).

In fact, every challenge is an opportunity to enter into the spirit. Every problem is a chance to prove God’s Word works.

Give thanks and be full of thanksgiving. Don’t let life’s situations beat you down so that you can’t give thanks.

The Lord is good, and His mercies endure forever!

It’s time to burst forth by faith in thanksgiving, and you will see the Lord fight your battles for you.

Wrap Up

Faith is never in isolation. There are actions that accompany faith. And we’ve seen three of them, which are:

  1. Absolute rest
  2. No fear or anxiety
  3. Praise and Thanksgiving

Thus, if you don’t have rest concerning a situation, or maybe you’re complaining or murmuring, then go back to the Word and build up your faith!

God wants us to live in absolute rest, without anxiety, and always full of thanksgiving.

Use these three signals to gauge your faith as you journey to unshakable faith.

Shalom!
